I get asked a lot of the same questions by most women so I decided the smart thing to do would be to write a FAQ post. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, but keep putting it off for whatever reason. Today is the day I decided I am going to make it happen! If you’re considering a boudoir shoot, hopefully you will find it helpful. : )
1. Do you retouch/airbrush the photos?
Yes. Every single photo that you order or that is in your product (album, magazine, etc) will be retouched and edited. No one, I repeat, NO ONE is perfect. No one has perfect skin and we all need a little help. The faces that grace the cover of magazines ALL have retouching. However, it’s super important to me that my clients never look plastic. So while I do soften skin, remove blemishes (and scars) and bags under the eyes, (and whiten teeth if necessary), I try to still leave a very natural feel to the image. I also never alter someone’s body unless there is a bra making an odd bulge because of a particular position they are in or something like that. Then I will shape the skin in that particular area to make it look more natural.
2. All of the women on your blog look so perfect and skinny. I am not skinny or perfect in any way and I’m worried my pictures won’t turn out that good.
Let me say it again: NO ONE is perfect. I shoot women of ALL shapes, ALL sizes and ALL ages. Boudoir is truly for everyone. The reason why you think everyone on my blog is “perfect” is because of a certain way I use lighting and angles to enhance their best features. Every woman’s body is unique and beautiful in it’s own way and when you walk through The Boudoir Vixen door, you’ll begin to feel like the supermodel you truly are.
3. I’m so nervous and have no idea how to be sexy. How will I know how to pose?
I will guide you every step of the way. I don’t expect you to know how to pose and how to position yourself. I will tell you exactly what to do, where to look, where to place your body and what expression to give me. You will not ever be left hanging and I promise you will have SO MUCH FUN. Every woman walks in nervous and walks out feeling confident and beautiful!
4. Do you have any tips/advice on on what lingerie I should bring?
Obviously there are tons and tons of options out there for lingerie. Depending on your style and taste, the sky is truly the limit on what you decide to wear for your shoot! But if I had to recommend one thing for someone who may be worried about how their body will look, corsets are AWESOME. Not only do they make everyone’s waist smaller, they push your girls up. ; )
5. Where do you do the shoots?
At my 2,200 sq. foot studio that is designed specifically for boudoir. : ) It’s located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana near Essen and Jefferson. It’s truly a dream come true to have a place for women to come and feel beautiful! If you’re out of town and need to fly in for your shoot, we will pick you up at the Baton Rouge airport. : )
6. Do you have a makeup/hair stylist at your studio?
Yes! My friend Courtney Davis, owner of Kiki’s Consulting, and her staff do an AMAZING job on all of my clients. Their talent constantly blows me out of the water. They are a HUGE reason the women you see on my website and blog look so stunning. I highly recommend Kiki’s Consulting for your boudoir shoot. They completely add to the whole experience.
